Pro-lifers will gather this weekend at the former abortion clinic run by the late George Tiller as part of “A Time for Healing … A Time for Life,” an event to encourage prayer vigils throughout Wichita, Kan.
The Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said the vigils will have multiple meanings.
“I think it’s important, in the midst of the tragic shooting of Dr. Tiller, to speak out and address violence on all levels – violence outside the clinic and violence inside the clinic,” he said.
Those gathering will pray for Tiller’s family, the preborn babies killed by abortion and the city of Wichita, where the clinic at which Tiller performed late-term abortions is located.
The first meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Living Word Outreach in Wichita. There will also be a prayer walk during the weekend event.
Tiller was shot in his church on May 31. Scott Roeder has been charged with murder in the shooting.
