Maryland Residents Object to Porn

by CitizenLink Staff

Complaints from residents of Prince George’s County, Md., have led the county council to restrict sexually oriented book and video stores in the area.

Daniel Weiss, senior media and sexuality analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said such businesses degrade the quality of life.

“There are dozens of land-use studies around the nation that show where sexually oriented businesses are located, there is an increase in crime, a decrease in property values and in increase in urban blight,” he said.

“The residents of Prince George’s County have shown this can be done,” Weiss said. “It can be done well. And it can have great impact on the quality of life in the community.”
