North Dakota Family Alliance Receives Focus Action’s Family Champion Award

by CitizenLink Staff

Focus on the Family Action recognized three “Family Champions” at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., last weekend.

Tom Freier, executive director of the North Dakota Family Alliance, was honored for defeating a so-called nondiscrimination act, which would have created special protections based on sexual orientation. Through its strong testimony at legislative hearings and effective grassroots mobilization, the North Dakota Family Alliance successfully stood against the legislation that threatened families across the state.

The group also took the lead on two pro-life bills that passed this session. The bills strengthen informed-consent laws by requiring doctors to show women an ultrasound prior to an abortion, and by requiring that women be told that abortion terminates the life of a separate, unique, living human being.

You can watch Tom Minnery, Focus Action’s senior vice president of government and public policy, present the award in the video player below.

You can also watch Dennis Arakaki, executive director of the Hawaii Family Forum, and Kelly Shackelford, president of Texas’ Free Market Foundation, receive their awards.
