Gubernatorial Races May Favor Republicans

by CitizenLink Staff

Two governor’s races are being viewed as a referendum on President Obama and the Democrat leadership in Congress.

In New Jersey, incumbent John Corzine, a Democrat, is neck and neck with Republican challenger Chris Christie going into Tuesday’s election.

In Virginia, it looks like a Republican will win the gubernatorial race. Challenger Bob McDonnell has a 10-point lead over Democrat Creigh Deeds, according to some polls.

At a rally in Leesburg on Sunday, McDonnell said the secret to turning the state’s economy around is not a federal bailout.

“It’s unleashing the private sector, the entrepreneur, the small businessman, so more people can use their God-given talents,” he said.

“It starts with less taxes and less regulation, not more.”
