Focus Action to Launch New Millennial Web Site at XPAC

by CitizenLink Staff

Effort an “invitation to dialogue” with rising generation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Focus on the Family Action will be launch a new Web site for millennials at the first-ever XPAC (Xtreme Politically Active Conservatives) event that will be held in tandem with CPAC this week in Washington, D.C. XPAC 2010 is geared at social policy-minded young adults of the “millennial,” 20-something generation. Focus Action is a co-sponsor of both events.

The Web site will be geared at policy-minded 20-somethings who take a special interest in social issues. Focus Action is committed to using the Web site as a vehicle to communicate with young adults. As part of the initial rollout phase, 20-somethings are invited to share their thoughts on social policy issues that are important to them.

“We want to listen more than lecture,” says Dawn Vargo, who is managing the site’s launch. “This new outreach will allow us to set aside rhetoric and begin a respectful yet practical discussion on issues that really matter. Our new Web site is designed to extend an invitation to dialogue to the rising generation.”

The millennial generation is a key demographic in policy-related matters. The Center for American Progress reports that millennials will be reaching voting age at a rate of 4.5 million per year between now and 2010, and account for almost 40 percent of eligible voters by the 2020 presidential election.

Focus Action spokespeople will be available to talk about the Web site’s launch, as well as other social issues at XPAC and CPAC. To review the list of experts on hand at these events, please view the spokesperson document.

Monica Schleicher will be handling media relations on the ground at CPAC and XPAC. You can contact her at 719-648-4590, or at Monica.Schleicher@fotf.org.
