Pictorial Explanation of New Healthcare Law

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. Or in this case, a couple thousand pages of the law’s text. Thanks to the Republican staffers on the House Joint Economic Committee for the effort. Click on this link for a PDF you can enlarge to your heart’s content.

Parting thought: What could possibly go wrong with this new law? It all seems so simple.

UPDATE: Congressman Kevin Brady says that they could not fit the entire health care bill on one chart. “This portrays only about one-third of the complexity of the final bill. It’s actually worse than this.”

UPDATE 8/2: Kevin Hassett of the American Enterprise Institute has more here, but this quote says it all:

The new law creates 68 grant programs, 47 bureaucratic entities, 29 demonstration or pilot programs, six regulatory systems, six compliance standards and two entitlements.

    I don’t get it.

    So health care is too big of an area of the economy to overhaul, yet when somebody finally does overhaul it, all the Republicans complain about is how many pages the bill is and how complicated the charts are.

    Maybe the GOP just needs some smarter people.

    I wish he.she would get “it.”

    However I doubt they want to. If the picture doesn’t scream to you “bloated government” nothing will.

    I like how it’s phrased as an “overhaul” instead of an “overtake”. More liberal white-washing. Don’t hold your breath for it to work yet. After all, the proposed diagram pushed on us doesn’t come into affect for years….

    …the taxes for it however are coming quite soon. Maybe the ex-GOPs need some common sense, or just share their cents to pay for our increased tax burdens.

    Perhaps higher taxes will come – as a Christian though, I’m okay with that. Another big benefit in our area trying to raise money for a family with hundreds of thousands of debt because of a pre-existing condition exemption.

    Furthermore, who pays for all the uninsured folks who get care at the last moment? Oh yes, the taxpayer. So as more folks would have been uninsured, it wouldn’t have affected our taxes?

    I’m not saying there is an easy answer – I’m just saying that it is a lazy cop out for them to say “it’s complicated”. It’s a big stinkin’ deal – it should be complicated!

    Health care and health insurance had deteriorated into an unworkable morass. Exorbahdent costs for care and insurance. Most folks could not afford it.
    Care givers were and are not being paid for their work so they charge high prices to the insurers to make up for their losses. The insurers in turn were doing everything they could to cut benefits to policy holders and payments to care givers.
    It has to change. I for one can only pay off a hospital bill for 6500.00 for a five hour visit to the ER at 25.00 per month. i am already getting a better deal on my new health ins. No limit on cost. Anyone who is opposed to health care reform is shooting themselves in the foot.
