Another shocking late-term abortion story is coming to light, this time out of New Jersey and Maryland.
A year ago – January 2011 – Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell was arrested and charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a woman and seven preborn babies allegedly born alive during late-term abortions.
Now – in Maryland, two abortionists with scandal-filled pasts are charged with murder in a case – the first of its kind – that will reportedly try the abortionists for the murder of preborn babies.
Steven Brigham and Nicola Riley were operating an interstate abortion ring that has been (allegedly) conducting illegal late-term abortions. Abortion facilities in at least five states were operating as part of a complex ring that started abortions in one state and then finished in another state to skirt state abortion regulations and safety standards.
One woman who suffered severe complications from an abortion started in New Jersey and completed in Maryland initiated charges against Brigham. The criminal investigation that began in 2010 uncovered more gruesome details in the days that followed – including 35 late-term preborn babies found in one of the clinic’s freezers.
The states of New York, Florida and New Jersey revoked Brigham’s medical licenses; he’s never had a medical license in Maryland where officials last year issued a “cease and desist” order for him to stop doing abortions in that state. Maryland revoked Riley’s medical license last year.
I could go on about the long and winding trail of deceit and harm to women that is characteristic of these abortionists but instead I’ll simply remind you of this: the abortion business is not representative of the medical field that is called to “do no harm.” In reality, it’s a corrupt industry that brings in substantial money each year by killing hundreds of thousands of babies and putts women at risk for mental and physical trauma – even death. If these recent arrests of abortionists on murder charges are any indication, the reality of abortion finally coming into the light for everyone to see.
