At the time Congress passed ObamaCare in 2009, few details were known about the plan. But it was clear that the government would for the first time be subsidizing abortion in private health plans.
Fast forward to 2012.
In March, the Department of Health and Human Services released a document with a few more details about how ObamaCare will force taxpayers to subsidize abortion.
Beginning in 2014, each state must make available to its residents a “bucket”–called an American Health Benefit Exchange–of different qualified health insurance plans (QHPs) that individuals may choose from. If a state refuses to set up an exchange, the federal government will do it for them. Some QHPs will cover abortion, some may not.
