Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico and New Mexico Prays to Host Pastors’ Day at the New Mexico Legislature

SANTA FE – Today, Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico and New Mexico Prays will host more than 100 pastors and faith leaders from across the state for the 2nd Annual Pastors’ Day at the New Mexico Legislature. The event will begin with a luncheon at the State Capitol, followed by a special service in the Rotunda with Lt. Governor John Sanchez, Representative David Gallegos, and other members of the New Mexico Prayer Caucus (invited).

“I want to thank Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico and New Mexico Prays for organizing this gathering of faith leaders at the Capitol,” said Lt. Governor Sanchez. “Churches and pastors continue to play a critical role in our efforts to improve the quality of life for New Mexicans and it is a blessing to have them in Santa Fe for this very special day.”

“As Co-Founder of the New Mexico Legislative Prayer Caucus, I am excited that pastors from across our great state will be at our State Capitol for Pastors’ Day,” said Representative Gallegos. “Last year was a turning point for New Mexico, as pastors came together to pray for our leaders. I believe our state benefits when the church body participates in the legislative process, and on behalf of the 31 members of the Prayer Caucus, I want to thank Pastor Vince Torres and Pastor Brian Alarid for coordinating this powerful day of fellowship and prayer.”

“At Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico, we are committed to helping foster positive, working relationships between our church leaders and elected officials,” said Pastor Vince Torres, Executive Director of Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico and Executive Pastor of Blaze Christian Fellowship (Santa Fe). “The pastors in attendance come from different denominations and communities throughout New Mexico. However, on this day, we gather in a demonstration of unity to pray for our state and support those whom God has positioned to lead our government.”

“As pastors, we have a responsibility to pray for our government leaders, serve them in love, and equip them with the Word of God,” said Rev. Brian Alarid, Co-Chairman of New Mexico Prays and Lead Pastor of Passion Church (Albuquerque). “That is why we are inviting pastors across our state to join us at the State Capitol to lift up the name of Jesus in prayer and worship. Let’s put 1 Timothy 2:1-2 into practice: ‘I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.’”
