LENEXA, KANSAS, July 27, 2017—Eric Teetsel, president of Family Policy Alliance of Kansas, released this statement in response to President Donald Trump’s appointment of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback to the post of Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom.

“President Trump’s appointment of Gov. Brownback to the post of Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom marks a turning point in American foreign policy. Gov. Brownback is known around the world for his work to promote peace and human rights. His appointment demonstrates that the administration is serious about addressing the persecution of religious minorities around the world. While we applaud the appointment, Kansas will miss Gov. Brownback. No one has done more to advance the principles that every life is precious, strong families make strong communities, and each person has a right to believe. Family Policy Alliance of Kansas thanks Governor Brownback for his steadfast leadership – and for leaving us Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer, himself a champion for life, family, and religious freedom.”
