Family Policy Alliance of NJ Empowers Parents to Demand Transparency in Education

Diversity or Deception Fact Sheet, Legislative Scorecard and Legislator Ranking resources equip and empower NJ parents

Trenton, NJ – Family Policy Alliance of New Jersey – a pro-family ministry – is empowering parents and concerned voters across the state. To do it, they’re using three key resources.

First, the group’s Diversity or Deception Fact Sheet helps parents in navigating the misinformation between Sex Ed Learning Standards and the Diversity and Inclusion lessons that mandate gender identity lessons beginning in kindergarten.

Second, the Legislative Scorecard documents the voting record in the last legislative session including the Diversity and Inclusion bill and the Reproductive Choice Act.

Third, the Legislative Ranking clearly shows voters which state legislators are responsible for numerous laws that undermine their parental rights in education and codify dangerous and unsafe pregnancy laws over the past four years.

Shawn Hyland, Director of Advocacy for Family Policy Alliance of New Jersey, offered the following statement:

“These resources equip parents to have a comprehensive view of the people and the behind-the-scenes process that ultimately broke trust between New Jersey parents and the public education system. It is our hope that the legislators that violated the trust of parents will be held accountable. Their duty as elected officials is to serve the families of their district, not an education union or third-party advocacy organizations such as Advocates for Youth or Planned Parenthood Action Fund. The veil of secrecy between the school and the home has to end. I hope Democrats and Republicans can work together to rebuild trust in New Jersey public schools.

Family Policy Alliance of New Jersey calls on Governor Murphy and state elected officials to immediately approve full transparency before the beginning of the next school year in every subject, not just Health Class.

Controversial diversity lessons developed by the Southern Poverty Law Center’s education organization Learning for Justice have been recommended by the NJ Department of Education. These lessons include encouraging gender role playing in kindergarten and teaching young students to be critical of a biological definition of male and female. These diversity lessons may be implemented in public school classrooms outside of Health Class, making it impossible for families to opt-out.

Senate Republicans have introduced a plan to repeal the sex ed learning standards, replace the diversity and inclusion law, and restore parental rights.  Family Policy Alliance of New Jersey applauds these plans and hopes that even as lawmakers take steps to protect New Jersey children, parents will be empowered to make those plans become reality.
