In Colorado, a gambling bill, SCR 4, was successfully defeated. Legislation that would have made it harder for citizens to petition the government, SCR 3, was also stopped.

Louisiana Family Forum headed successful efforts to pass an ultrasound bill, SB 528. They also helped secure passage of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, SB 606, which protects religious liberty in Louisiana from unreasonable government intrusion.

Missouri Family Policy Council helped pass an ultrasound bill, SB 793, and a bill, SB 586, to regulate sexually oriented businesses. They also helped defeat a bill, HB 1850, which would have allowed men to enter women’s restrooms.The Family Policy Council of West Virginia was involved in the support of SB 597, a bill that requires an ultrasound be performed before a woman has an abortion. This bill was successful and written into law in March of this year.

Family First in Nebraska assisted in “indefinitely postponing” LR 277, a constitutional amendment that would have allowed simulcast gambling at racetracks.

In New Hampshire, Cornerstone Action successfully stopped SB 1, which would have expanded gambling in the state and established four new casinos in the state. In conjunction, the state was able to balance their budget without expanding gambling.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms won the fight against S2406, a bill that would have allowed New Yorkers to enter any bathroom even those designated for the opposite gender. The defeat of this Bathroom Bill was a huge success.

The North Dakota Family Alliance is currently collecting signatures to allow the people of North Dakota to vote on protecting their religious liberty. If successful, the November ballot will contain the Religious Liberty Restoration Amendment.

Oklahoma Family Policy Council helped support an ultrasound bill (HB 2780), which was a huge victory. As in previous sessions, Gov. Henry vetoed the ultrasound bill, but this year the OK Legislature overrode Gov. Henry’s veto, allowing the bill to become law.

In South Carolina, Palmetto Family Council helped with the passage of H.345 successfully extending the period of time a girl must wait before having an abortion from one hour to 24 hours.

The Liberty Institute helped promote The Texas State Board of Education’s changes to the state’s social studies standards, which now reflect a more accurate depiction of the Christian history and foundation of the United States.
